Boontling is the nearly-extinct jargon/argot born in the Anderson Valley of California, roughly a couple hours north of San Francisco, resting in Mendocino County. It's something I grew up with, generations of my family did, and has long since had splintered dictionaries left only on the archived internet. This is my attempt to post at least a nearly complete dictionary for it. It's a mix of Mexican Spanish, Scottish Gaelic, and the local Native tribe, the Pomo. It's rude, it's silly, it's shameless. Some of it is questionable and marked accordingly (if you think something should be marked as such, please let me know. I am presenting this in pure linguistic historical context only). It was created solely to mess with fancy non-rural outsiders.

I could not have done this without the help of The Internet Archive and it letting me recover books and snippets of long, long dead websites from local Mendocino sources that no longer exist on the live internet. A lot of it comes form me listening to it/using it growing up and learning about it from locals, as my family has had ranchland in the area since 1906. If I can teach anyone any of it and keep it alive as one of its last fluent users, that's all I want.
